In collaboration with Tongji Hospital, our team published an early warning paper on machine learning death risk for patients with Coronavirus in Nature · Machine Intelligence

On May 14, 2020, a new result of the medical and industrial interdisciplinary Research on the death risk warning of COVID-19 critical patients by Machine learning were published online in the form of Research Article in Nature Machine Intelligence.This result was completed by our team in cooperation with Tongji Hospital Affiliated to Tongji Medical College of our university.The paper is called "An Interpretable Mortality Prediction Model for COVID-19 Patients." As soon as the paper was published, it has received wide attention worldwide. As of June 1, 2020, it has been downloaded more than 75,000 times, ranking first in Nature · Machine Intelligence.It was selected as a research highlight of Nature Asia(http://www.natureasia.com/en/research/highlight/13326)and Nature Research's 5.22COVID-19 study outline.It is long reproduced in the form of Editors' choice by ScienceTranslationalMedicine(https://stm.sciencemag.org/content/12/545/eabb7102.abstract).

The research was strongly supported by the Research Institute of Huazhong University of Science and Technology and the Scientific Research Office of Tongji Hospital.It was supported by COVID-19 Emergency Science and Technology Project of HUST and Hubei Provincial Department of Science and Technology.The research gave full play to the advantages of our school in the interdisciplinary disciplines of artificial intelligence and clinical medicine, and had important clinical significance in assisting front-line doctors in early intervention and treatment of critical patients with COVID-19 and improving the prognosis.
